Get a Big Ol' Discount on a Sierra Designs Sleeping Bag

Since 1965 Sierra Designs have been creating innovative products. Products dependable enough to assist and allow extreme thrill seeking athletes to summit Mount Everest or venture to the North and South Poles, but also affordable enough so that us regular folk can join the fun as well. Sierra Designs is a well regarded distributor of  camping and adventure tents, backpacks, rain gear, and- GOING ON CLEARANCE September 1st their state-of-the-art sleeping bags.

One of the most versatile Sierra Designs sleeping bags is the Sierra Designs Cloud 15. In all seriousness, this should have been called the Cloud 9 because that's how you feel when you're nestled up inside of this amazingly comfortable 900-fill down sleeping bag. It brings back memories of when I was a child, small enough to fit in a laundry basket full of warm laundry fresh out of the dryer. It's also ultralight; Cloud 15's packed weight is well under two pounds.

Sierra Designs Tents & Sleeping Bags

2012 Sierra Designs Tents & Sierra Designs sleeping bags embody the change we expect as the seasons change and our days get longer.  With the lengthening day comes the ability to travel longer, and Sierra Designs new lightweight Mojo Tents and Cloud sleeping bags will help you.  Both caught our attention at trade shows last summer, and the editors at Backpacker Magazine have taken notice.  Use of cutting edge new materials and technologies give you better performance and lighter weights.  You'll have to wait or hit the newstand to read what Backpacker's editors have written, or you can visit our website and follow our blog.  I expect you'll be hearing more in online forums and in social media as Spring 2012 moves on.  While the Sierra Designs brand itself has seen a lot of change of late, I think their Spring 2012 products reveal their long standing commitment to innovation and excellence

Sleeping in the Cloud

Huh?!? Did I hear that correctly? 1 lb 12 oz?  Yep, but I had to get in it to believe it!  The new Sierra Designs Cloud 15 Sleeping Bag is the lightest, comfy-est sleeping bag in the 15 degree temperature range and it weighs only 1 lb. 12 oz.  With 900 fill down the Cloud really does feel dreamy...you barely feel that you have a layer wrapped around you at all.  Super soft, you'll get a great night sleep especially because you carried fewer ounces in your pack all day.  The regular length bag (rated for up to 6 ft) is perfect if you're 5' 11" or less, unless you're like me and need to trim a few inches of girth from around the mid-section.   A few of the ounces saved come in the taper of the bag which leaves you with only a 40 inch footbox.  Remember you're paying to stay warm, save space and shed weight, not to enjoy the opportunity to stretch out in luxury.

Your spouse might question your thinking--if you bother to bring her (or him) in the loop on this $499 decision--but just point out that this is an investment that will last.  If you don't believe it check out this Portland Hikers forumpost on an old Sierra Designs Cloud Series sleeping bag for a 30 year old SD bag selling for $50!

Our first Sierra Designs Cloud bags arrive in the store next week.  But if $499 is a bit much then maybe another bag from our selection of Sierra Designs sleeping bags is just right.
